Sherborne have been announced as Atlas’s August winner of the ‘Installation of the Month’ competition winning £200 worth of Screwfix vouchers and £50 Majestic Wine vouchers.

Sherborne have been wowing the industry with their stunning orangery installations and have showcased their skills yet again to the judges at Atlas. Renowned for bespoke orangery installations, Sherborne create and build a range of stunning and unique orangeries. This month’s winning installation was no exception with Sherborne transforming a tired looking detached house into a fresh, cool and ultra modern home.

The property was originally built in the 1950s and is located in the beautiful rural area of North Hampshire. Sherborne were tasked with giving the house a face lift and were given a brief of wanting a ‘New England’ style home. Due to the age of the house, achieving the ‘New England’ style design meant almost completely rebuilding the home.

Sherborne built a very modern orangery to create an amazing kitchen and family living space. An aluminium Atlas lantern in matt grey (RAL colour 7016) was installed along with matching grey bifolding doors to flood natural light into the living area. When the bifolding doors are opened the whole room becomes part of the garden and pool area – it’s the ultimate orangery!

To add a modern twist to the orangery, Sherborne also added a glass balcony on top of the orangery so the homeowner can relax and appreciate the view of the garden from a higher level and admire the beauty of their Atlas lantern from above.

The homeowner first saw the Atlas lantern at the Sherborne Windlesham show site and they loved the lantern’s contemporary design as it fitted their vision of a ‘New England’ style home.

To create such a large open space area Sherborne had to spend a lot of time at the planning stage to ensure that the structural demands of a roof balcony were considered. Due to the unusual shape of the orangery the position of the Atlas lantern was critical to ensure enough light would flood into the orangery.

Chris Long, MD at Sherborne, commented “No installation is the same and there were plenty of challenges with this project. This orangery is certainly one to be proud of! We’re opening a new showroom in the area in the coming months so this orangery plus winning the Atlas Installation of the Month competition is an incredible advert for us – we’re hoping to generate lots of new business from the new site and winning this award again is a fantastic boost for all at Sherborne ”
